WILMA Women’s Health Centre Incorporated was established in 1987 through the extensive efforts of the Women In the Local Macarthur Area, hence the conception of the Centre’s name.
The Centre was situated in the Old Coach House across from Campbelltown Mall, Queen Street. WILMA was officially opened by the Hon Peter Anderson MP, Minister for Health and Minister for the Drug Offensive on the 23rd July, 1987.
WILMA is a feminist service committed to improving the health and wellbeing of all women.
WILMA is a Non-Government Organisation (NGO) which is run by a Management Committee made up of local women. It was in 1999 that WILMA outgrew its original premises and with the very hard work and political savvy of an ex-staff member, WILMA was given the land that it currently resides on today. The organisation successfully negotiated to receive funds to construct a purpose-built Centre on the land built with environmentally friendly materials.
Due to all the hard work of the current team at WILMA, we now find ourselves in a similar situation, where we have once again outgrown our premises due to our capacity to deliver a wide range of programs in high demand by women in the Macarthur area. WILMA is currently looking for funding to expand the Centre onto the vacant land parallel to our carpark.
