Counselling

WILMA offers short-term counselling (between six and twelve sessions) to help you discuss and resolve issues of concern to you. Our Counsellors listen supportively and without judgment in WILMA’s safe, friendly and relaxed environment.

We offer counselling on a wide range of issues which affect women’s wellbeing, such as:

  • Depression and Anxiety
  • Confidence and self-esteem
  • Sexual assault
  • Domestic violence
  • Childhood sexual or other abuse
  • Grief and loss
  • Family issues and parenting
  • Feeling overwhelmed

We also support women dealing with the effects of abuse, trauma or discrimination in their lives.

Counselling at WILMA is a FREE service to enable access to all who need it. Please ring to make an appointment or ask any questions you may have about this service.

Arabic speaking women are able to access counselling in their own language with cultural and religious sensitivity. Interpreting will be arranged on request in other community languages.

Deaf and hearing impaired women are encouraged to make use of all services and we will arrange an Auslan interpreter or whatever assistance is preferred to access any service.

Women’s Health Nurse

Appointments to see the Women’s Health Nurse are available on Mondays. The nurse provides services and information for women-specific health concerns such as: menstruation, contraception, cervical screening tests, breast checks, menopause, sexually transmitted diseases and post-natal examinations.

The Women’s Health Nurse service is free when you have a Medicare card. Appointments are essential.

Natural Therapies

WILMA’s Naturopath & Nutritionist offers individual consultations aimed at assisting women to address a wide range of health issues through nutrition and other healthy lifestyle choices. Fees apply and bookings are essential. Health fund rebates available. Appointments with the Naturopath are available on Monday afternoons and Thursday mornings.

WILMA’s Acupuncturist can assist with the treatment of a wide variety of conditions. She specialises in supporting women with managing chronic illnesses and pain, and treatment is offered in a caring manner. Our Acupuncturist visits the centre every Friday. Fees apply (no concessions) and bookings are essential. Health fund rebates are available.

WILMA’s Massage Therapist offers treatments to relax the body’s tissue, increase the flow of and oxygen and decrease pain. Massage can help reduce stress and improve flexibility, sleep and immunity. Our Massage Therapist visits the centre on Tuesdays. Fees apply (no concessions) and bookings are essential.

WILMA is also offering our clients up to three free Emotional Freedom Technique (Tapping) sessions. This technique uses acupressure to relieve stress and anxiety, and helps address everyday stresses, difficult emotions and frustrations by tapping on the acupressure points in your body.
